Aim

To develop our national product distribution and grow our network to provide a Baby Basics centre in all locations of need.

Who are we, and what is our project about? 

Baby Basics UK is one of the largest networks of baby banks in the UK. We support families with all the practical essentials they need for life with children from pre-birth to 5 years old. Every Baby Basics centre is run by, for and with the local community, taking referrals from trusted health and social care professionals, and providing support to vulnerable families.  

Our vision is that no family should have to choose between essentials like food, heating or nappies for their baby. 

In 2025 we supported 1 in 100 babies born in the UK with a Moses basket.  

Our Network Expansion Project seeks to enhance the support offered to our centres and expand distribution of product nationwide.  

Why are we crowdfunding? 

Demand for support continues to rise as more families face financial hardship and the ongoing cost of living crisis. At the same time, charities and community organisations are facing increasing financial pressures. 

We are seeking funding towards our core costs for the next year, to enable us to continue to expansion of our network and outreach, ensuring our network of Baby Basics centres to ensure that they are fully equipped to serve their local communities, so that families in need can continue accessing safe sleeping spaces, nappies, clothing, toiletries, pushchairs, cots and other essential items for their children. Access to these items, which they otherwise could not afford, can reduce immediate financial pressure and improve outcomes for children. 

How we’ll spend the money raised 

Funding will help us to: 

• Contribution to costs of HQ and Warehouse, and salaries of core staff team 
• Continue to support centres across the UK  
• Establish new centres in areas of need 
• Transport and distribute donated baby product nationally  
• Purchase emergency essentials where donated stock is low  
• Support volunteers and local community partnerships  
• Provide opportunities for young adults outside formal education to gain work experience through placements at our centres
