After the devastating break-in at Trust Links community garden in Basildon, we need to repair the potting shed and improve security.

Growing Together Basildon is a wonderful community garden in Vange, which was launched in May 2023. The garden includes log cabin, green roof gazebo, flower and vegetable beds and a potting shed.

In October the site suffered a devastating vandalism attack, with the potting shed windows and door being smashed in. Understandably this is very upsetting for the people that attend the garden on a regular basis.

We need your support to fix the potting shed after the vandalism. It is urgent that we also upgrade the fencing to ensure that the attack is not repeated. 

We know from CCTV that it is young people that carried out the vandalism on the potting shed. We are therefore working with other groups such as ATF, Bar'N'Bus, ECC Youth Service and Basildon Council to develop provision for young people and families at the Growing Together site and improve the join up of provision for young people. Funding will be needed to support more services for young people, which in turn will hopefully reduce antisocial behaviour and vandalism.
