Aim

We're raising funds to help CHAP continue providing free, independent advice and support to people facing financial hardship across Ayrshire

Poverty is not simply about having less money. It can mean difficult choices between paying a bill and buying food, worrying about falling into debt, or facing the constant uncertainty of not knowing how you will make ends meet.

For people already experiencing financial hardship, getting the right advice at the right time can make a real difference.

That’s where CHAP can help. As a registered charity for over 25 years, we provide free, independent and confidential advice to people across Ayrshire who are struggling with money, debt, benefits, housing and other financial difficulties.

Our advisers work alongside people to understand their circumstances, maximise their income, deal with debt and identify practical solutions. By helping to prevent problems from escalating into crisis, we're able to support people towards greater financial security.

With the cost-of-living crisis continuing to affect us all, demand for our services has never been higher. Alongside this increased demand, financial outcomes for our clients reached record levels. In 2025, we secured a total of £4,278,651 - almost £1 million more than the year before - providing vital income that has made a real difference to the lives of the individuals and families we support.

We are proud to be an accredited provider under the Scottish National Standards for Information and Advice Providers at Type III - the highest level - across housing, welfare rights and debt, and we are also authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). This means our clients can have confidence that they are receiving professional, high-quality advice and support.

But tackling poverty is also about prevention.

Through our Education programmes, we work with young people in secondary schools and colleges, teaching practical financial skills such as budgeting, understanding credit and APR, saving, managing money and planning for the future.

By helping young people develop financial knowledge and confidence early in life, we hope to better prepare them for their transition to adulthood and independent living. Empowering young people to make informed choices reduces the risk of financial difficulties and hardship later.

By supporting this campaign, you are helping us tackle poverty today - while investing in better financial futures for tomorrow.

We're crowdfunding because this work has ongoing costs. Our fundraising target will contribute to the core costs involved with the ongoing delivery and continuous improvement of our advice and education services, including staff salaries and volunteer expenses alongside operational overheads such as IT and case management systems, premises, quality assurance, service promotion and ongoing development work.

All donations will go towards CHAP's core running costs, helping us continue both the practical, free-to-access support we provide to people experiencing financial hardship and the preventative work we undertake with young people.

How you can help

There are a couple of simple ways to get involved and support our project:

1. Make a donation

Every pledge gets us closer to our goal. Your support can help build momentum and inspire others to give too.

2. Spread the word

Please share our project with friends, family and your wider network. The more people we reach, the more likely we are to reach our target.

Together, we can help challenge poverty and build stronger financial wellbeing across Ayrshire.

Thanks you for your support!
