We’re raising money to help young people in Bradford understand climate change, build green digital skills and take practical action.
Who are we, and what is our project about?
Future Transformation CIC is a Bradford-based social enterprise working to close the digital divide and create opportunities for young people and underserved communities. We connect communities, education and industry through programmes that build skills, confidence and ambition in areas such as digital, AI, coding, cyber, sustainability and green innovation.
Our project, Climate Ready Bradford Youth, will deliver practical workshops for young people focused on climate change, local environmental challenges and green digital skills. Through hands-on activities, participants will explore issues such as energy use, waste, air quality, biodiversity and extreme weather, and learn how digital tools, creativity and problem solving can support climate action in their communities.
This project fits the Climate Action theme because it gives young people the knowledge, confidence and skills to help communities prevent, prepare for and adapt to the impacts of climate change. Participants will better understand local environmental issues, explore sustainable behaviours, and develop ideas for greener, more resilient neighbourhoods.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We are crowdfunding because many young people, especially those from underserved communities, have limited access to climate education, green skills and practical opportunities to take action. At the same time, climate change is already affecting communities through issues such as poor air quality, rising energy pressures, changing weather patterns and loss of green space.
This funding will help us run practical, inspiring workshops that make climate action feel relevant, positive and achievable. It will support young people to understand the challenges facing their communities and give them the tools and confidence to respond in meaningful ways.
By supporting this project, people will be helping young people in Bradford build knowledge, resilience and hope, while encouraging local climate awareness and community action.
How we’ll spend the money raised
We are raising funds to deliver practical, hands-on workshops that help young people in Bradford understand climate change and take meaningful action. Your support will directly fund:
Activities that include interactive sessions on climate change and its local impacts, creative workshops exploring greener lifestyles and communities, and practical challenges using digital tools to investigate and respond to environmental issues. Young people may take part in activities such as mapping local climate concerns, exploring data and technology, designing ideas for greener spaces, and creating simple digital or creative outputs linked to climate action.
These activities will help participants understand how communities can prevent climate harm through sustainable action, prepare by increasing awareness of local risks, and adapt by building resilience, skills and problem-solving confidence.
How will young people be reached?
We will recruit participants through our existing partnerships with schools, community organisations and local networks in Bradford. We will use open promotion and trusted referrals to reach young people, with a focus on those from underserved communities who may otherwise miss out on enrichment and future skills opportunities.
Our approach will be inclusive and supportive rather than competitive, ensuring that the young people who would benefit most can take part.
Why are we running a climate-focused programme?
This project is a natural extension of Future Transformation CIC’s wider work. We already help young people build future-facing digital skills and confidence. We are choosing to focus on climate because climate change is one of the defining issues shaping young people’s futures, and they need the skills, awareness and opportunities to respond.
By linking climate education with digital and creative learning, we can help ensure that underserved young people are not left behind in the transition to a greener, more resilient future.
