Bring together H&F residents and community organisations together to respond better to emergencies (extreme weather/climate events)
Who are we, and what is our project about?
H&F Volunteer Centre is a charity celebrating 30 years leading volunteering in Hammersmith & Fulham. We see everyday that people giving just a little of their time is what makes strong and resilient communities.
Since Grenfell we have seen first hand that we are nowhere near being able to use the full potential of amazing support offered by local people and community organisations during an emergency. With your help we are going to change that!
Residents and voluntary sector organisations have great local knowledge, expertise and resources but we are not plugged in to the official emergency response system.
Our Communities Together in an Emergency project will enable community organisations and residents in H&F to be connected so to be able to be more part of an emergency response. Through our H&F Community Resilience Alliance this project will focus on community response to extreme weather/climate events that all H&F residents have been affected by in some way.
This is a community led project for the community.

Why are we crowdfunding?
All H&F residents have been affected by extreme weather and we are raising funds to ensure there is a coordinated, community-led approach to climate resilience, where residents, voluntary organisations, businesses and public services work together to prepare for extreme weather, support vulnerable neighbours and develop practical, long-term solutions that strengthen our communities.
We cannot do this project without your help and your donation could help more people to be less affected and more supported in an emergency.
Your donations will be tripled!
Every donation you make will be matched by Aviva and GLA* so, for example, a £20 donation automatically becomes a £60 donation to the programme (£20 from an individual, £20 from Aviva and £20 from GLA).
*Aviva will match-fund individual donations up to £250 and GLA will match-fund to an overall donations total of £2,000

How we’ll spend the money raised
We are a charity and 100% of the money raised will go to delivering the Communities Together in an Emergency project.
We estimate of the money raised:
97% - on charity staff costs for managing and coordinating the project as well as fundraising
3% - On operational but necessary costs such as room hire, materials for regular events and refreshments (hydration is important!)

How you can help?
There are three simple ways to get involved and support our project:
1. Make a donation
Every pledge gets us closer to our goal. Early support can help build momentum and inspire others to give too.
2. Spread the word
Share our project with friends, family and your wider network. The more people we reach, the more likely we are to succeed.
3. Join the project!
If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch through the ‘Contact’ section using the subject "I want to know more about the H&F Community Resilience Alliance" on our project page.
