Healthier communities, healthier planet: mobilising climate action through biodiversity, volunteering and nature recovery.
Who are we, and what is our project about?
Escape Arts is a creative health charity working across Warwickshire, bringing people together through arts, nature, heritage and shared stories to strengthen wellbeing, reduce isolation and build resilient communities.
We believe that protecting nature helps protect ourselves.
Creative Climate Action is a 12-month community-led programme bringing people together through arts, nature and shared stories to support biodiversity, climate resilience and community wellbeing across Stratford-upon-Avon and Nuneaton.
We will support environmental volunteering, sustainable growing, creative climate action walks, biodiversity projects and nature recovery activities. Local people will take practical action to care for the environment while building stronger connections to nature, place and each other.
At Escape Arts, we know that people are more likely to care for the places they feel connected to. We all carry stories of place: memories, experiences and connections that shape who we are and where we belong. By celebrating these stories and encouraging positive action, we can inspire communities to become active custodians of their local environment.
Together, we will create greener spaces for wildlife, support biodiversity recovery, encourage sustainable lifestyles and build stronger, more resilient communities for future generations.
This project will build on our climate action work, Plastic Planet is an example of this: Plastic Planet

Why are we crowdfunding?
Communities across Warwickshire are facing growing environmental challenges including biodiversity decline, climate anxiety and reduced access to nature. Many people, particularly those experiencing isolation, hidden poverty, poor mental health, bereavement or long-term health conditions, are often excluded from environmental volunteering and climate action opportunities.
Creative Climate Action will create welcoming and accessible routes into environmental participation through biodiversity projects, Creative Climate Walks, habitat enhancement, sustainable growing and community environmental activities.
Over 12 months, we will:
This project will help communities take positive action for biodiversity recovery, greener lifestyles and long-term environmental resilience.

How you can help
There are four simple ways to support Creative Climate Action:
1. Make a donation
Every pledge helps communities take meaningful action for biodiversity, climate resilience and nature recovery. Early support helps build momentum and unlock match funding.
2. Spread the word
Please share our campaign with friends, family, workplaces and community networks. Every share helps us reach more people and grow support for community climate action.
3. Take Part in A MILES FOR SMILES Physical Health Challenge
Across June-Sept, our supporters are taking part in fundraising challenges in the natural environment, advocating physical health and wellbeing in our wondrous green spaces. These include long distance walks, runs and open water swim challenges. Each challenge can be as short or as long as you want, all ideas welcome and supported.
4. Volunteer with us
We are looking for volunteer Creative Climate Champions to support biodiversity projects, Creative Climate Walks and environmental activities across Warwickshire.
If you would like to get involved, please contact us through the project page using the subject:
“I want to volunteer my time or expertise!"
