Free community festival in Nunhead promoting wellbeing, inclusion, volunteering and social connection for local families.
Southwark Summer Family Festival 2026 is a free community event organised by EasyStepUK to bring together families, residents, volunteers and local organisations through wellbeing, cultural and community activities.
The event will take place on Sunday 26 July 2026 at The Green, Nunhead Community Centre in South East London.
Our aim is to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where people of different backgrounds can connect, reduce social isolation and improve community wellbeing during the summer period.
The festival will include:
• Family games and creative activities
• Tai Chi and wellbeing sessions
• Martial arts demonstrations
• Belly dance and salsa performances
• Community engagement activities
• Picnic and social spaces
The event is open to all and free to attend.
EasyStepUK works with migrant, disadvantaged and isolated communities across South East London. Many local residents experience loneliness, limited access to affordable activities and barriers to community participation. This project helps address those issues by providing a safe and positive community environment that encourages social connection, cultural exchange and volunteering.
We are also creating opportunities for volunteers, particularly young people and students seeking community experience, confidence building and practical skills development. Volunteers will support event coordination, public engagement and community activities, while receiving guidance, experience and certificates of participation.
We are pleased to invite and engage with local organisations and community partners including wellbeing organisations, community groups and public engagement providers.
The project supports:
• Community wellbeing
• Social inclusion
• Intergenerational engagement
• Cultural participation
• Volunteering opportunities
• Community cohesion
Any additional funding raised will help us provide activity materials, volunteer support, equipment, accessibility resources and future free community activities for local residents.
