Helping new mothers regain financial footing with trusted support, budgeting help, and access to essential baby items.
W
ho are we, and what is our project about?
“When my childhood home faced the harshest times, struggling to afford even the most basic necessities, I held onto a promise. A promise that my children, unlike me, would never experience true hunger, or hesitate to enjoy the luxury of clean laundry or a warm bath. Now, as I gaze into my baby's wide hazel eyes, I can't help but feel the weight of my perceived failure. I'm willing to give my all for this child, even if it means setting aside my pride to seek help for warm water, nappies, and baby essentials. Please support the Loving Start Baby Bank, ensuring a better beginning for babies who may be poor now; but could be future leaders of tomorrow.”
This isn’t a one off story. We hear versions of this every single week.
Made with Care was set up because too many mothers are trying to hold everything together at once. A new baby, their own recovery, sometimes postnatal depression or complications from pregnancy, and at the same time a sudden shift in finances that no one really prepares you for. Income drops, costs go up overnight, and even the basics start to feel out of reach.
We are not coming in with big financial language or unrealistic plans. We meet mothers where they are, often when things already feel like they are slipping.
Our focus is helping them find some kind of financial footing again.
That can look like sitting down and going through what’s actually coming in and going out, in a way that feels manageable. It can be one to one support where trust builds slowly, and conversations about money, debt, or benefits don’t feel overwhelming or judged. For some, it’s linking in with a debt adviser but staying alongside them so they don’t drop off when it gets too much.
At the same time, our Loved Again Baby Bank takes some of the immediate pressure off. Nappies, formula, baby clothes, a cot, a pram, things that cost a lot when you don’t have it. We collect good quality pre loved items, add in essentials, and pass them on so families are not forced into debt just to meet their baby’s basic needs.
A lot of the mothers we support are not looking for long term help. They just need that moment of breathing space, and someone steady next to them while they work things out.
