Aviva Employee Giving provided £1,400 of match funding
We are moving to a new location and expanding our services to create a Community Hub. This will include a wide range of in person advice.
Who are we, and what is our project about?
Hailsham foodbank has been open since 2012 and over the last few years we have added Financial Inclusion to our support. A Citizens Advice Advisor and Community Money Advice Debt Advisor have been on site helping people who access our service. This has seen a decrease in the amount of food parcels we are giving out against the national trend. We also have a Community Fridge which is open to the whole community which helps eliminate food waste locally.
We are securing a new, larger location in town where we will be expanding this service to include more agencies and are also training a team up to offer budget coaching. These services will be open to the whole community.
By people having face to face access to support in one location they will be able to gain trust to be able to resolve problems before they become too overwhelming.

Why are we crowdfunding?
This funding will help us set up the new hub with a small cafe area where people will be able to chat and we can signpost them to the various services on offer. These services will enable people to make sure they are getting all the correct support with their finances and then help them with budgeting and saving for the future in the best way for their household.
The foodbank will be there for those that need it but we very much hope, through this project, to reach people and give them help before they require a food parcel.
We have carried out a lot of research locally and our community are very much in favour of having a one-stop hub where they can go for a variety of support.
How we’ll spend the money raised
The money will go towards setting up a small cafe area and creating a comfortable environment for the different agencies to operate from. This will include furniture, kitchen items and a coffee machine. It will also help out with the general running costs of the project.
How you can help
There are three simple ways to get involved and support our project:
1. Make a donation
Every pledge gets us closer to our goal. Early support can help build momentum and inspire others to give too.
2. Spread the word
Share our project with friends, family and your wider network. The more people we reach, the more likely we are to succeed.
3. Volunteer with us
If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch through the ‘Contact’ section using the subject "I want to volunteer my time or expertise" on our project page.
