The End Polio Now campaign vaccinates people against polio around the world. To raise awareness, crocus corms are planted each year.
Since 1979, Rotary International has been fighting polio by immunising millions of people around the world. Polio is a virus that attacks the nervous system, and in some instances, can lead to paralysis The Gates Foundation joined the cause in 2009 and now the disease has been virtually eradicated.
To make people aware of our campaign, we involve members of the community in planting crocus corms around public places. During October 2026 we will be planting 8,000 crocus corms around Normanton, Altofts, Sharlston and Featherstone in West Yorkshire.
