Aim

Enabling people to rebuild their lives after unemployment with practical support, financial confidence and hope.

Who are we, and what is our project about?

M3 Job Club is a community charity who have supported thousands of people back into work through coaching, skills training and employer connections, helping them rebuild confidence, and long-term financial wellbeing. We run a weekly session throughout the year to equip members with the tools, techniques and mental strength to secure employment.

Having personally faced this daunting issue in the past, and not finding the support I needed, I started the charity to help others to rebuild, reset, reskill and become reemployed.

When someone is out of work and not earning, financial wellbeing isn't just about having income, it's about feeling in control of what you do have and how to manage it. The deeper damage is psychological, loss of agency, chronic stress, and eroded decision-making. My project directly counters that by giving people practical, action-based tools to:

· Rebuild money routines (budgeting, prioritising essentials, accessing benefits they're entitled to, so they regain a sense of structure.

· Create short-term cashflow forecasts that turn 'surviving' into 'planning' reducing anxiety about unknowns.

· Connect them with peer support and financial coaching, so they’re not isolated in their decisions.

The result isn't just better individual outcomes it’s people who feel secure enough to save small amounts, confident enough to re-enter work gradually, in a managed and controlled way, resilient enough to avoid crisis debt. That rebuilds spending power and tax contributions from the ground up, but only if we prioritise their sense of control first. My project proves that financial wellbeing isn't a byproduct of employment it's a prerequisite for it.

A further and important learning from our work is that many of our members, particularly those aged 40–60, have limited understanding of their pension position, the value of their pension pots, or the options available to them at different stages of life. This lack of knowledge can leave people feeling uncertain, anxious and unable to plan with confidence at precisely the point when they may be facing redundancy, career change or financial pressure.

By helping members understand their pensions, we give them a clearer picture of their long-term financial position, and the choices open to them. This is a vital part of financial wellbeing: it enables people to make informed decisions about whether to return to employment, consider retirement, start a business, take on contract work, or reshape their working life in a way that is realistic and sustainable. Pension awareness is not simply about retirement planning; it is about giving people control, confidence and the information they need to make better decisions for their future.

Over the past 15 years, we have seen how many people impacted by redundancy and financially unprepared, often only realising the gaps in their planning when income stops. This creates a clear opportunity to strengthen our programme with practical financial wellbeing support that gives members the skills, tools and confidence to manage their money, understand their options and plan more effectively for the future. We are well placed to provide this support at the moment when people need it most.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are crowdfunding to expand the practical support M3 Job Club provides to people facing unemployment or redundancy. Our programme combines coaching, skills workshops, CV and interview guidance, networking and employer connections, helping members rebuild confidence and move back into sustainable work. Funding will allow us to reach more people, strengthen delivery and provide the practical tools and support members need at a critical point in their lives.

It will also enable us to add financial wellbeing sessions covering pensions, savings, tax, mortgages and money management, helping members make informed decisions while they are out of work and preparing for their next step.

How we’ll spend the money raised

We will use the money to strengthen and expand M3 Job Club’s support for people who are unemployed. Funding will help cover the practical costs of delivering our weekly programme, including the location, coaching sessions, employability workshops, CV and interview support, networking activity, employer engagement and outreach to reach more people in the community.

It will also help us improve the resources, tools and professional guidance available to participants. Current sessions run every Friday, but this funding would be utilised towards an additional new digital edition of our programme to reach more people in other locations or who are not able to make a Friday session onsite.

By investing in delivery capacity and participant support, the funding will enable more people to rebuild their skills, regain confidence and move back into sustainable employment, improving their financial wellbeing and reducing the risk of long-term hardship.

An example of the costs are:

- Venue and associated costs where we host the event.
- Additional part-time administration to handle the new service
- Videography, editing and publishing to host and manage the content
- IT costs related to the hosting platform and services

How you can help

There are three simple ways to get involved and support our project:

1. Make a one-off or monthly donation

Every pledge gets us closer to our goal. Early support can help build momentum and inspire others to give too. With the ageing population and impact of AI, numbers are increasing. Funding is therefore important to keep up with the growing numbers who are attending our weekly sessions.

2. Spread the word

Share our project with friends, family and your wider business network. The more people we reach, the more likely we are to succeed. If you are planning or wish to look at raising funds, why not challenge yourself and raise money for us - it's a win win for all involved. Go to our LocalGiving page (https://localgiving.org/m3jobclub) to sign up.

3. Volunteer with us

If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch through the ‘Contact’ section using the subject "I want to volunteer my time or expertise" on our project page. It's important for members to keep connected to business and increase their networking. If you are interested in mentoring, job-shadowing or have roles available, we'd love to hear from you.
