Aim

We would like to appoint a Crisis Adviser/”Listening Service” Co-ordinator for 6mths.

The Covid-19 outbreak put a temporary halt to our face to face consultations with our clients and in response we instituted a “listening service” pro-actively making contact to see how clients were managing and giving them reassurance we were still there to help. This was enthusiastically received with a number saying that we were the first to reach out to them. As our normal work has resumed we have had to curtail this activity and we would like to get it going again. Rural isolation and digital exclusion in our area means there is such a need for this. We have the experience now, we know what works and how effective it is. Have a look at some of the snippets of feedback below.

Another sadly growing demand in Covid-19 times is the increasing level of financial crisis that disabled people are facing. Whatever privations visit themselves on people in these difficult times the impact on the disabled is always worse and it is worst in rural areas with sparse public transport options and limited broadband availability.  We are grateful to have access to crisis funds via other charities who specialise in this area - we act as a gateway and assess the individual needs. Take a look at the case studies below to how we help those in most need in these most difficult times. Given the exponential rise in cases being referred to us is someone to co-ordinate this function and oversee the listening service for an initial six months.
