We are raising money to run inclusive, supportive sensory garden workshops at The Ardagh!
Who are we, and what is our project about?
SENDaWelcome is a Bristol-based Community Interest Company creating welcoming, inclusive communities where people with learning disabilities, autistic people and people with lived experience of disability take the lead.
Our project develops an old tennis court into an Inclusive Sensory Garden that helps tackle climate change while making nature accessible to everyone. The garden will increase biodiversity, provide pollinator-friendly planting, improve soil health, reduce hard surfaces and create a greener community space that can be enjoyed by people of all abilities.
We believe climate action must include disabled people. Too often, environmental projects are not designed with accessibility in mind. This garden has been co-designed with people with lived experience to show that caring for the planet and creating inclusive communities can go hand in hand.
The space will be used for accessible gardening, nature connection, environmental learning and community volunteering, helping local people take practical climate action in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Why are we crowdfunding?
We are raising money to run inclusive, supportive sensory garden workshops.
Small local green spaces play an important role in helping communities tackle climate change by supporting pollinators, capturing carbon, and encouraging sustainable behaviours such as repurposing discarded items.
This funding will allow us to plant more climate-resilient species, create wildlife-friendly habitats, expand accessible growing areas and run environmental activities that involve people who are often excluded from climate action.
The project will also help to reduce social isolation and support wellbeing by enabling people to access an outdoor space.
By supporting this project, people are helping create a practical example of inclusive climate action in the heart of our community.

How we’ll spend the money raised
We are committed to making sure the money raised goes directly towards creating a positive environmental and community impact.
The funding will be used for:
Facilitator fees to run inclusive gardening and environmental sessions.
Accessible equipment and associated expenses so people with learning disabilities and autistic people can fully take part in climate and nature activities.
Creating safe spaces for pollinators, including wildlife-friendly planting and habitats for bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects.
Project running costs, such as essential maintenance needed to keep the garden safe and sustainable.
We keep our overheads to a minimum so that the greatest possible proportion of every donation is invested directly into accessibility and meaningful community climate action. 🌱🐝
