We’re taking part in the National Emergencies Trust Local Action Fund. Donations to our project will be matched by the fund up to the value of £250 per donation to help us overcome the effects of the pandemic.
Please note only one donation per supporter will be matched by the National Emergencies Trust Local Action Fund.
Our project aims to raise awareness and educate older isolated adults about climate action and conduct events that initiate climate action.
The No.1 Befriending Agency provides befriending services to people aged 18+ to reduce isolation and loneliness in the community. We offer a range of services from 1-2-1 befriending, in-person, and virtual events. We aim to build connections between befrienders, befriendees, service users, volunteers, and staff through these services.
Our aim with this project, “Net Zero and Climate Action Awareness,” we want to take the opportunity to teach our service users about climate change, climate action, and measures at a community level. Our project aims to educate people about recycling, growing vegetables, and using fair trade goods. We will do this by organising collaboration workshops with partners in the local community and providing different events such as presentations and outings, i.e., to the science center and Whitelee Windfarm. We will also have excursions to local garden communities and parks, which will also tie into part of our ongoing project, “The Heritage Project.”
Our main goal is to enhance people’s confidence in the climate change discussion and to bring the community together while combating loneliness and isolation, promoting climate action, and positively impacting the community.
