Aim

We are raising £20,000 to relieve immediate food insecurity for disadvantaged households in Bolton and deliver long-term financial coaching.

Who are we, and what is our project about?

Chris Movement CIC is a Bolton-based community interest company dedicated to supporting vulnerable individuals and families experiencing poverty, social isolation, food insecurity, and severe financial hardship.

Having directly supported over 200 local residents in the past year, we see firsthand the crushing trade-offs families face daily: choosing whether to put food on the table or pay essential utility bills and rent.

We believe lasting change requires dignity, practical relief, and true empowerment. The Nourish & Thrive Project bridges emergency crisis support with sustainable financial wellbeing, giving residents the room they need to stabilize their household budgets.

Our Vision

A world where every person, regardless of background or circumstance, thrives in inclusive, supportive environments free from loneliness, injustice, and inequality, united through respect, empathy, and shared opportunity.

Our Project

The cost-of-living crisis continues to force low-income households, unemployed individuals, single parents, and isolated older adults in Bolton into impossible financial decisions. When budgets are pushed to the brink, skipping meals becomes a common survival tactic to keep up with rising household bills.

The Nourish & Thrive Project directly eliminates this "meal gap" through a two-tiered intervention:

1. Immediate Crisis Relief: We procure and distribute essential, culturally appropriate foodstuffs (e.g., rice, oil, cereals, fresh vegetables, and child-friendly essentials etc.) directly to families suffering from acute food insecurity. Providing free food essentials immediately frees up household income, easing pressing financial strain.

2. Long-Term Financial Resilience: Relieving immediate hunger creates the crucial stability families need to engage with longer-term solutions. Through a direct partnership with the Bolton Community Tax Clinic, project participants receive dedicated financial wellbeing coaching. This includes practical guidance on budget management, money-handling skills, savings strategies, and signposting to specialist long-term support services.

By combining immediate hunger relief with practical financial coaching, we empower households to regain dignity, build confidence, and take concrete steps toward lasting financial independence.1790612192_whatsapp_image_2026-09-08_at_18-35-51.jpeg

Why are we crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding allows our local community to directly back a project that delivers both immediate relief and long-term empowerment. Every pound raised directly stocks essential food supplies for local families while connecting them to expert financial signposting and money-coaching resources.

By uniting residents, local businesses, and community networks, this campaign strengthens Bolton’s local safety net and builds a more resilient community where no family has to choose between a hot meal and a warm home.

How you can help

There are two simple ways to get involved and support the Nourish & Thrive Project:

1. Make a Donation:

Each contribution will support people in Bolton facing financial pressures to obtain necessary food and also access practical assistance towards achieving financial stability. No matter  the amount whether it’s  £5 or £50, your donation can make a real difference at the same time as helping to alleviate the financial strain on households.

2. Spread the Word:

Tell your friends, family, local businesses and members of your community about our campaign on social media. Every time you share our campaign, you can help us reach someone who needs support.

We can all help vulnerable people and families in getting the basic food they need, lessen financial pressures, and contribute to building a more resilient community in which everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
