Help us fund online workshops and postal activities to help people living with Parkinson's to stay active, connected and creative
OUR STORY
Clinical research has shown that taking part in regular singing and dancing activities can have a hugely positive impact on the management of symptoms of Parkinson's.
Since 2019, artistic collective CARVE coLAB has been working to provide opportunities for with people living with Parkinson's and their companions to take part in performing arts activities such as dancing, singing and acting. In 2019 we began a project to co-create an operatic work with the Parkinson's communities in Suffolk and London. HerStory: The Catchpole Chronicles combined song, dance, animation and spoken word.
We were due to perform our opera in at the Royal Opera House last year but alas our plans were scuppered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact since March 2020, the Parkinson's community have been unable to take part in any any of the face-to-face activities that are so vital to their physical and mental wellbeing.
WHAT YOUR DONATIONS WILL FUND
In 2021, CARVE coLAB are teaming up with community interest company CONTENTED MUSIC CLUB to create a series of remote workshops to keep this community connected, active and creative. Our plan is to use themes from the HerStory opera to create a series of interactive online workshops that combine singing, dancing, movement, visual arts, creative writing and crafts. We will also create postal resources and arts activities for participants unable to access the internet.
Your funding will support us to plan and deliver these workshops and activities, and to curate an online gallery to share and celebrate the creative outputs from the project.
