Aim

To provide children in Perth and Kinross with free School Uniform and Nursery clothing.

What is Social Flock?

We are a clothing, climate and community charity working to mitigate the impact of poverty and reduce our community's reliance on fast fashion.

We achieve this by accepting donations of preloved and new clothing and redistributing them to anyone who lives in Perth and Kinross and wears clothing - completely for free.

In 2025 we provided over 2,800 Clothing Packs to families across the region, saving them over £400,000 in clothing expenses and keeping 8 tons of clothing from landfill, through our redistribution network.

'(Back to School) is an important project in Perth because food is becoming more and more expensive and bills are also increasing, so such help in the form of clothes is a great support for families. The children are happy too.'  ~ Back to School 2025 parent feedback

Back to School & Nursery 2026

In 2025 we provided uniform for 1,037 young people living in Perth and Kinross and attending school or nursery.

In 2026 we want to increase our capacity to 1,200 making sure every child is returning to school confident and eager to learn. We have secured funding for 1,100 packs and are fundraising £5,000 for the final 100 packs.

Each pack costs Social Flock £50 to complete from application to delivery but are valued at £150. So 100 packs costs us £5,000 but saves our community £15,000 in clothing expenditure - tripling the value of your donation.

 - 22% of children living in Perth and Kinross are living in poverty, that's over 5,000 children -

Do you believe all children should have access to school uniform?

Yes, us too! Below is how we can make FREE school uniform a reality across Perth and Kinross.

'They were very happy with what they received, they felt included with their friends having the same stuff as them' ~ Back to School 2025 parent feedback

Each pack only costs Social Flock £50 to provide to families, but is valued at £150 if all of the items included were purchased new.

We're looking for funding to support 100 Back to School & Nursery Packs this summer.

Social Flock is more than just clothing packs, we provide our community with a service that improves their mental health, reduces stress, allows redistribution of money to other essential household bills and increases excitement for school.

'I wanted to say a huge thank you to you all for delivering uniforms. We got two packs this morning. As someone currently struggling with health and finances it really has made a difference and lightened the load a bit.' ~ Back to School 2025 parent feedback

Can't donate but want to support - here's how!

1. Donate your preloved clothing and uniform.
We accept all clothing and footwear in good enough condition to pass on to others, for all ages and sizes. We store all items until we can find the right pack to put them in.

1777290831_social_flock.pngWe are always in need of preloved and new uniform donations.

Our most needed items for our Back to School Packs are:
- Black School trousers
- White PE T-shirts
- Black joggers
- Short sleeved white shirts

2. Share our posts on social media
Helping to spread the word not only increases clothing donations, but also helps us reach new people who might not have known about our service. The more people who donate, the more people we can support.

3. Volunteer with us!
As a volunteer-led organisation we rely on our amazing team of volunteers to make everything possible. We offer a range of different volunteering opportunities including:

1.1777291339_a3e82bb6-a40b-466c-af62-e4e658762641.jpg Delivery Driving - we offer free door step delivery to all of our applicants, removing barriers to access, especially for rural families. We offer fuel reimbursement and snacks for on the road.

1777291421_hat.jpg2. Makers and Menders - we keep clothing in circulation for as long as possible so we mend, wash and redesign items. If you have these skills we would love to have your support repairing clothing for redistribution.

1777291678_volunteering.png3. In hub volunteering - we always need new volunteers to help us organise donations, make up packs, and keep the hub flowing.
We support Duke of Edinburgh and Work Experience placements too.
Our volunteers are the core of our charity, we make sure to keep volunteering fun and free by providing snacks and meals, travel expenses and good banter.

Thank you for reading, sharing and continuing to support our vision of a free, cyclical clothing economy for all of the residents of Perth and Kinross.
