Aim

Refugee Action Kingston is raising funds to help refugees build financial stability and independence through advice, support & opportunities

Every day, refugees in southwest London face impossible financial choices—between food, housing, and survival. With the right support, this doesn’t have to be their reality.

We are raising funds to help refugees build financial stability and independence through practical advice, support and pathways into income.

Last year, we supported people to access employment, training and essential financial support—helping them move forward with confidence and rebuild their lives. Now, demand is growing, and we need your support to reach more people in crisis.

Who we are

Refugee Action Kingston (RAK) is a community-based charity supporting refugees and people seeking asylum in southwest London to rebuild their lives with dignity, confidence and independence.

We provide holistic support including welfare, housing and debt advice, alongside education, training and employment and volunteering support. Our work is rooted in a simple belief: when people are given the right support and opportunities, they can rebuild their lives and contribute fully to their communities.

Our vision and project

Our vision is a future where refugees are not trapped in poverty and uncertainty, but are supported to achieve financial stability and independence.

1780914132_community_hub_activities.jpgThis project focuses on improving financial wellbeing by addressing the real challenges people face—low income, insecure housing, and limited access to financial systems. Through personalised support and practical tools, we help individuals stabilise their finances, understand their rights, and develop pathways into sustainable income.

Our approach aligns with Aviva’s Financial Wellbeing focus by enabling people to access opportunities, manage financial pressures, and build long-term resilience.

Why we are crowdfunding

The people we support are facing increasing financial hardship due to rising living costs and ongoing policy changes. Many are unable to access stable employment, are at risk of debt, or are struggling to secure safe housing.

This funding will allow us to provide targeted support that helps people move from crisis to stability—ensuring they can meet their basic needs today while building a more secure future.

By supporting this campaign, you are helping people not only survive, but rebuild their lives.

How we’ll spend the money raised

We are aiming to raise £10,000 to deliver vital financial wellbeing support:

  • £4,000 – Project delivery
One-to-one advice and group support on financial wellbeing, employment and income
  • £2,000 – Specialist advice
Housing, welfare and debt casework support
  • £2,000 – Resources for participants
Practical tools, action plans and accessible guidance
  • £1,000 – Workshops and group sessions
Budgeting, financial systems and rights awareness
  • £1,000 – Coordination and monitoring

Every pound will go directly towards helping people build financial stability and independence.

How you can help

There are three simple ways to support this project:

1. Make a donation

Every contribution helps us reach more people. The Aviva Community Fund will match your first donation only (up to £250 per person)—so your initial gift has the biggest impact. Please do consider making your full donation in one go to double its value.

This helps us unlock match funding faster and support more people in urgent need.1780916256_tree_leaf_with_client_quote.jpg
