Aim

Voluntary charity supplying food and essentials to street homeless and vulnerable people in our community. Foodbank, outreach and support.

5 months after lockdown began and we're still as busy as ever. Our street kitchens are still 6 days a week and we're seeing large numbers at the weekend. Hundreds of meals a week for a rising number of homeless and vulnerable in temporary accomodation .... new faces, new to homelessness.

During September we aim to change our response and adapt with a new food bank. We have to constantly review what what we do and even more so this year. Coronavirus has given us many new challenges, like all charities, but we will remain on street level and here to help whomever needs us.

We're a voluntary charity established 6 years ago. Our outreach work covers Brighton and it's surrounding areas and our clients are street homeless or vulnerable. During Covid-19 many local providers and charities were forced to stop (due to isolated volunteers for instance) We stepped up and increased our output by 30-40%. We provided a nightly street kitchen alongside our existing sunday kitchen and upped our delivery of food boxes. During this time the main aim was to provide and cook essentials, now we're looking to the future. Those housed in temporary hotel accommodation will loose their rooms and may, or may not, recieve replacements. Already we're seeing an increase in homeless and the closure of businesses will only see more in the long term. We need to continue to supply food and toiletries and be availible for advice and support. We work with Lawstop, Streetvet and other local charities to cover a wide range of areas including domestic abuse, addiction and mental health issues.
