Support The Turing Trust in our mission to rescue thousands of PCs from premature recycling, saving tonnes of CO2 in the process.
Who are we, and what is our project about?
The Turing Trust bridges the digital divide by refurbishing and redeploying used IT equipment for disadvantaged communities - providing educational tools and vital digital skills.
We emphasise a circular life-cycle model, reducing carbon emissions by reusing and recycling redundant kit.
Additionally, our local volunteering provides opportunities across Scotland for those facing traditional barriers to employment, disability and mental-health struggles, etc, running in tandem with our corporate volunteering programmes.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We're crowdfunding to help us stretch our targets and bring our wonderful social and environmental benefits to even more individuals and communities across the UK.
The funds raised will help us scale up our operations, running more skills workshops and training sessions for our local community volunteers. This will help us process more devices for redeployment, benefitting both the environment and UK beneficiaries, who receive access to life-changing digital technology.
How we’ll spend the money raised
Funds raised will be used in a variety of ways to support our mission, from purchasing replacement parts, safely restoring donated laptops and tablets to factory standard for redeployment, providing vital devices to beneficiaries and running our training and volunteering initiatives for local community members.
These services support jobseekers with disabilities, aid refugees settling into local communities, individuals experiencing homelessness, mental and physical health struggles, etc. As well as fighting isolation, loneliness, and unemployment, our volunteering programme helps people access online training, create CVs, and boosts their future employment prospects.
The environmental benefits of scaling up our operations cannot be understated. With over 6000 tonnes of CO2 saved to date, every PC saved contributes to a greener, cleaner, and fairer world.
How you can help
There are three simple ways to get involved and support our project:
Every piece of IT equipment or penny which comes our way helps us fulfil our mission of bridging the digital divide, and saving the environment whilst doing so.
2. Spread the word
Please do share our project with friends, family and your wider network. The more people we reach, the more likely we are to succeed!
If you’d like to be part of our mission, we’d love to hear from you. Get involved by filling in the form available via the link above. We love to have volunteers from all backgrounds, and welcome corporate volunteers free of charge as well.
