Time to Talk Befriending (TTTB) is a charity working across Brighton, Hove, Worthing and Adur in Sussex. Our aim is to improve the quality of life for local older people by mobilising community volunteers to help overcome loneliness and social isolation.
Our small staff team and 300 volunteers support over 620 older people every year, providing one-to-one befriending, social events, and signposting services connecting older people with other specialist support. The average age of the people we support is 83, and the majority are living with long term health conditions
and reduced mobility.
95% of our scheme members agree that befriending has helped to overcome their loneliness: “I'm very grateful for Time to Talk Befriending....without you, Tony wouldn't visit, and without Tony I wouldn't see anyone bar the carer."
"It can be a lonely life, but these events are tremendous, otherwise I end up talking to myself."
