Some children did not see their non-resident parent for over a year during lockdown. Families are under massive pressure - we need your help
Seaparation and divorce is common - but there is nothing like the pain and sense of loss when things have gone wrong, especially when there is conflict and anger. Children are in the middle of this - they feel their parents' emotions, and children worry, often with torn loyalties and their own views and ideas lost in the struggle.
Our work with families aims to help them put children's best interests first - to find ways of maintaining children's relationships with both parents and help parents work towards co-parenting, by resolving their own difficulties and supporting positive communication through mediation.
For many families, our child contact centres are a lifeline, providing a safe and supportive space where children can play with their non-resident parent.
Post covid-19, Family Journeys is facing massive demand for our help, but we have lost 80% of our capacity due to contact centre venues closing.
We want our services to come back better - we want to establish two permanent child contact centres where we can ensure the play facilities, comfort and support are the best they can be.
With our own contact centres, we can managing our opening times and our services in ways that families need them to be.
Our vision for children is a homely place to relax and relate.
Using external lets in premises with limited storage space compromises this vision.
But more than this, the 230 cases on our waiting list are real families whose lives have been under massive pressure during lockdown. Parents who have not seen their child for a year or more, are desperate for our services.
