Imagine not being able to see or hear your loved ones, read a book, or make a simple trip to the shop without worry. For the 1,500+ people we support in Perth & Kinross living with sensory loss, this can be a daily reality – and the emotional impact can be devastating: isolation, fear, and loss of independence.

At VisionPK, we’re the only charity in the county dedicated to supporting adults with sight and hearing loss. While our hub is based on George Street, Perth, our work reaches across Perth & Kinross – offering home visits, one-to-one support, and community-based activities. We provide tailored, specialist support to help people live as independently and confidently as possible – from in-home assessments and adaptive equipment to rehabilitation, social groups and emotional care.

For those who struggle to get to groups or feel anxious about leaving the house, loneliness can be especially acute. That’s why we’re launching our new Telephone Befriending Service – a new project designed to bring comfort, companionship, and conversation to those who need it most.

The service will match volunteers with service users for regular friendly phone calls – once a week or fortnight – helping to reduce isolation, build confidence, and offer a sense of connection. It’s a small gesture with a huge impact.

The service is fully supported by our team, and volunteer befrienders will receive training to ensure they feel confident and equipped. It’s a flexible, rewarding way to make a real difference in someone’s life – even from your own home.

We believe that no one should feel invisible or alone because of sensory loss. This project is about human connection – simple, sincere, and life-enhancing.
